Are you already super bored with everything you’re doing to finish out the school year? The Bus Project is doing cool stuff this summer and we want you to hang out with us this summer instead of going to camp for the fourteenth straight year.
We like to say that we’re a forward thinking, even more forward-doing, non-partisan and hella young non-profit advocating and building power for the youths. We register anyone and everyone we can to vote, we train activists and organizers, and we lobby and vouch for the issues we care about. We’ll be doing organizing of all kinds this summer, so if you’re down to register voters in all of the ways, build and run entire programs and change some lives, LET’S DO THIS!!
Apply to be one of our BAMF interns today!
Administrative: This is the perfect role for someone who likes to be behind the scenes. If you’re a wizard at scheduling, using Google Apps and organizing databases and documents, this will be a sweet gig for you to garner some office experience. You’ll be the right hand homies to our staff, whose quirks and bad jokes you’ll get to know best. Love is in the details, and we’d love it if you were super detail-oriented for this position!
Social Justice: If you’ve got big ideas about how to have those hard discussions about race, class, gender, sexual orientation – YOU NAME IT – we want you. We’re building a crew that can craft issue-specific trainings to give to our whole network. We want diverse perspectives, we want irreverent and/or serious lessons, but above all we want honest approaches that come from a place of love. This is an opportunity for you to flex your brain and show the world your skills, say what you think and start a much-needed dialogue.
Development: If you’re curious about nonprofit fundraising and all of the ways we receive the financial resources we need to run our programs, look no further. You’ll learn the fine art of roping in $$ and how it guides our work. No previous experience is required, but your responsibilities will vary depending on your background. Tasks could include anything from donor research to database management to assisting with grant applications. This position is heavily dependent on people who are hyper-organized and incredibly detail-oriented.
Outreach & Field: If you’d call yourself a people person, love being the center of attention and/or somebody could mistake you for one of the extras in the video for Pharrell’s “Happy,” then this position is perfect for ya. You’ll be going to events and schmoozing with young people who are as stoked about democracy as you are and plug them into the Bus! Basically, you’ll be the face of fun.
Communications: Calling all tech, A/V and social media wizards!! Because we’re up to a ton of good this summer, we need people who are going to help us document all of it. We’re definitely going to be all over the streets of Portland and we want the rest of the world to know it too! If you’re savvy with websites, cameras, Pinterest, Twitter, etc. then hit us up! Did someone say #selfie?
All interns are expected to commit an average of 10-20 hours depending on the intensity of your involvement. If you think you have what it takes to be a member of the team or if you really don’t want to go to camp, talk to us! Apply here: http://goo.gl/YzWuS1
